Perplexity generates answers with source links. A mention of your brand in an answer is not the same thing as a citation of your website, and neither proves qualified traffic or a sale. The practical goal is to make claims auditable: which prompt, which engine, which date, which answer and which exact URL?

What to record for a citation

Save the full prompt, the answer excerpt, the cited URL as displayed, the date and the engine. Open the cited URL to check whether it resolves to your content; a third-party page mentioning your name is not your own citation. Repeat the query because answers can vary by time, location and wording. Do not convert a single observation into a stable ranking claim.

The screenshot is the empty 23SEOGEO AI citation tracking form captured September 30, 2026. It demonstrates where to record an observation; it is not itself a Perplexity result.

One observed 23SEOGEO brand query, with limitations

Our stored AI-visibility observation dated September 14, 2026 contains the prompt “23SEOGEO 是什么工具” (What is 23SEOGEO?) and labels the engine Perplexity. Its saved citation URL list includes https://www.23seogeo.com/about and a third-party page at https://www.seotime.com/tools/23seogeo. The answer excerpt describes 23SEOGEO as an AI-search optimization platform. This is a single saved brand-query observation, not an independently re-run live Perplexity session, and does not prove that the English blog—or this article—was cited. The www address should be checked for its final destination before using it as evidence of a working owned-page citation. An earlier saved query dated July 28, 2026 listed third-party URLs including a WHOIS page, not a 23SEOGEO article. Neither observation establishes a citation rate.

The example is useful precisely because the fields prevent overclaiming: a brand appearing in an answer is weaker evidence than a working direct link to a relevant page. To reproduce it, search the same prompt in Perplexity and compare the answer and URLs; results may differ.

How to make a page easier to verify

  • Give each page one clear question and a short, factual answer near the top.
  • Identify the author or organization and keep product facts consistent with your About and feature pages.
  • Support consequential claims with primary sources or your own accessible records. If you cannot access an analyst report, do not quote it.
  • Link to the relevant service, pricing, methodology or documentation page where a reader can check the claim.
  • Verify that the page can be fetched and indexed; a sitemap entry is a discovery hint, not evidence of indexing.
  • Re-run a fixed prompt set and keep negative results as well as positive ones.

Do we know whether this guide is indexed?

As checked September 30, 2026, Google Search Console reported this English URL as discovered, currently not indexed. This describes Google's indexed version, not a live crawl test. It is incorrect to describe an unindexed article as having fallen in rankings. Before further rewriting, inspect the URL in Search Console and verify actual impressions and queries after indexing.

Frequently asked questions

Does Perplexity always cite the same pages?

No. Re-check the same prompt and record the date and URLs; do not infer a guaranteed citation from one answer.

Is a brand mention proof of search traffic?

No. For visits, inspect your own analytics or server logs. A screenshot or saved answer alone does not establish traffic.

Methodology: This article uses one explicitly qualified stored brand-query observation and an authentic empty tool interface. It does not claim a controlled study, a traffic lift or a citation of this blog post.
